Mrs. Schomburg

Welcome to Blumfield Elementary and your child’s 6th grade year! I am so excited to be a part of your child’s last elementary school year!

I grew up in Clear Lake, Iowa and received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. After teaching in Iowa for a few years I moved to Omaha and began teaching with Ralston Public Schools in 1988 at Blumfield Elementary. I earned my Master’s Degree in Reading from UNO. Over the years I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade.

I am married and have two daughters who have graduated from college and are pursuing their own careers in Occupational Therapy and Psychology. In my free time I love to walk, garden, read, cook, listen to music and watch college sports.

    Goals

    Reading Goal
    All students will improve reading comprehension as it affects achievement in all areas of study.
    Writing Goal
    All students will be explicitly taught the 5 steps in the writing process.
    Math Goal
    All students will use math strategies to become problem solvers.
    Behavior Goal
    All students will be safe, respectful, and responsible.

    Expectations

    It is an expectation that all students participate in their learning and treat themselves, others, and materials with respect. I do have high expectations for students, as well as myself. I believe we all can meet these expectations as we appy ourselves to the best of our abilities.
